Harbour hotel reopens with new lighting scheme15 February 2010
December 2009 saw the opening of the Salthouse Harbour Hotel, a boutique hotel on Ipswich marina refurbished by Trevillion Interiors working in collaboration with Elektra Lighting. The rejuvenated warehouse features an interior scheme with traditional surroundings, contemporary furniture, quirky curios, and playful lighting. The reception area forms part of the adjoining newbuild designed by architects Barefoot & Gilles. Elektra experimented with the use of theatre lighting on trusses to emphasise the drama in the design and highlight key art pieces whilst simple downlights were used to scallop the tiled elevator walls. Colour was an important part to the fun in this hotel and was used with a linear RGB colour changing floor slot around the perimeter of the reception. This highlighted the whole façade with colour to create a different mood twice a day. |
